The idea of ​​finding beauty in imperfect things by applying gold to scratches is something that she would like to cherish and pass on as the idea of ​​kintsugi.

 

Tomomi believes that the way things change is similar to enjoying incense and appreciating the beauty of scars.

Modern Kintsugi Artist / Potter

Tomomi Kamoshita creates ceramics and three-dimensional artworks focused on her beautiful color and fine shapes at her studio in Tokyo. She has held solo exhibition and ceramic workshops in Japan as well as outside of Japan. Recently, she has been working utilizing the traditional Japanese technique of "kintsugi" in her own modern style.  She held solo exhibition in New York regularly, and held kintsugi workshops in L.A., San Francisco, several cities in India. Kintsugi (Japanese Golden Joinery) is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery by mending the areas of breakage with urushi lacquer dusted or mixed with powdered gold, silver, or platinum.
