Collection: Kimura Koki
Ceramic Artist / Potter
Koki Kimura is dedicated to studying and preserving the traditional Sansui patterns and painting techniques of Mashiko ware, while also developing new works in his own style. His interest in Sansui teapots and patterns stems from their familiarity and closeness to daily life. Through his practice, he seeks both to revive and promote tradition, and to expand it with his own creative interpretations.
Mashiko-yaki (ware) from the famous Japanese pottery town of Mashiko. Mashiko was once home to Shōji Hamada, celebrated ceramicist and founding member of the Mingei (folk craft) Movement, who through Bernard Leach shaped modern-day studio pottery in Japan and the UK.
