Collection: Hagiwara Yoshinori

Ceramic Artist / Potter

As the fifth-generation successor of Hagiwara Pottery, Yoshinori Hagiwara focuses primarily on tableware, occasionally creating art pieces for personal enjoyment. His work is characterized by painted designs and patterns, rooted in the traditional techniques of Mashiko rather than seeking extravagance.

By reinterpreting the works of past generations while exploring materials and adding his own arrangements, Hagiwara creates pieces that carry both tradition and individuality.

Mashiko-yaki (ware) from the famous Japanese pottery town of Mashiko. Mashiko was once home to Shōji Hamada, celebrated ceramicist and founding member of the Mingei (folk craft) Movement, who through Bernard Leach shaped modern-day studio pottery in Japan and the UK.
