About Matsugaoka Glass
With roots dating back to the 1940s, Matsugaoka Glass began as a manufacturer of precision parts for aircraft instruments. After World War II, the company shifted focus to the emerging glass industry, producing glass buoys for fishing and bottles for sake and other uses. Responding to the needs of the times, they expanded into automotive lighting glass.
In the early 1960s, Matsugaoka Glass successfully developed crystal glass products—highly refractive, brilliantly crafted pieces often described as “artworks of light.” This dedication to precision and beauty has defined their unique glassmaking tradition through Japan’s postwar eras to the present day.
Today, Matsugaoka Glass continues to build on its legacy, exploring new expressions of craftsmanship. Their work is guided by a deep respect for quality and a desire to enrich everyday life through the enduring beauty of glass.
