The name "Fuuu" evokes the gentle flow of wind, and its philosophy is deeply rooted in three key elements represented by the "u”s in its name:
Utsuwa (器): Vessel, symbolizing the beauty and purpose of pottery.
Usability (使いやすさ): Ease of use, ensuring that each piece is as functional as it is beautiful.
Universal (普遍性): Universal appeal, making the brand’s pottery meaningful and relevant across cultures and lifestyles.
Fuuu’s approach reflects the brand’s commitment to creating pottery that transcends time and place, allowing users to appreciate both its practicality and its artistry.
Kyo-yaki and Kiyomizu-yaki
Kyo-yaki, originating from the foothills of Higashiyama during the Edo period, gained prominence through its association with the tea ceremony. Meanwhile, Kiyomizu-yaki emerged around Gojozaka, near the iconic Kiyomizu-dera Temple. Today, all ceramics produced in Kyoto are collectively referred to as Kyo-yaki and Kiyomizu-yaki. These styles are celebrated for their refined aesthetics, intricate designs, and deep connection to Kyoto’s cultural heritage.
