Hagi-yaki From Yamaguchi, Japan
Hagi-yaki ( Hagi-ware ) is a type of ceramics primarily produced around Hagi City in Yamaguchi, Japan. It is characterised by its minimal decoration, highlighting the natural properties of the materials, and its unique, one-of-a-kind texture.
It is baked slowly at low temperatures and is characterized by fine crack patterns on the surface called Kanyuu. Therefore, the soft soil is absorbent, and with continued use for many years, tea and alcohol will soak in and the color of the vessel will change.
