NEANDERTAL – Fragrance Rooted in Deep Time
More than just a fragrance, NEANDERTAL is a sensory exploration of origins—an olfactory journey through time, memory, and material. Born from a desire to connect modern scent design with ancient human history, NEANDERTAL evokes the primal, the poetic, and the profoundly human.

A Bottle Carved by History
The sculptural form of NEANDERTAL’s fragrance bottles is inspired by flint-knapped hand axes discovered in Norfolk, UK. These stone tools—used by humankind for over a million years—are among the earliest and most enduring examples of functional design. Honoring that lineage, each NEANDERTAL bottle is a modern artifact: raw, tactile, and deeply symbolic.
Fragrance as Archaeology
NEANDERTAL doesn't follow trends—it digs deeper. Each scent is composed as an excavation of time and atmosphere, layering elements both familiar and abstract. Earthy, smoky, mineral and vegetal tones collide with unexpected clarity, offering an experience that feels instinctual yet entirely contemporary.

A Dialogue Between the Ancient and the New
Created by artist and perfumer Kentaro Yamada, NEANDERTAL is more than a fragrance brand—it is a conceptual project. It asks: what might early humans have smelled? What does it mean to create beauty from survival? In this way, NEANDERTAL becomes a dialogue between the prehistoric and the postmodern, the sensory and the sculptural.
