"Takayama Chasen" is carefully handcrafted in Japan
70 prongs
Takayama Chasen has a history of over 500 years, first created in the late Muromachi period (1333-1573) in Ikoma Takayama, Nara. During the 15th century, Takayama Sosetsu came up with a new type of bamboo whisk appropriate for the new style of Japanese tea ceremony.
In recent years, there are many mass produced bamboo whisks which are more affordable but lower quality. The traditional handcrafted bamboo whisk (chasen) offer better quality through the craftsman's attention to detail, and is not only a work of great craftsmanship, but also helps create the even layer of froth on top making a delicious bowl of matcha.
