Gokayama Gassho-style Village in Nanto City, Toyama Prefecture, a UNESCO World Heritage site, has a rich history of washi paper production as one of its significant livelihoods. FIVE is pioneering new possibilities with washi paper through innovative designs that break free from conventional norms, all while preserving traditional techniques of washi paper craftsmanship.
This colorful card case is created from washi paper that has been dyed with pigments and blended with konnyaku glue. It's resilient against water and becomes more supple, akin to leather, as it's used.
*Please be aware that since each piece is handcrafted using natural fibers, there might be slight differences in color and occasional fuzziness.
